Emma attended her first meeting on September 21. Emma is very actively involved in many clubs and activities at DHS. She is the head stage manager for the Youth Theater productions along with being the President of the Youth Theater department. She also serves as a student leader in the P.A.C.C. club. Emma also participates in the PALS club, the Ecology club, the Student Council and is on the executive board of the Teen Freedom club. Emma also serves as a mentor in the TLC after school program. She is also a 4 year varsity player of the golf team of which she is also the captain.
In addition to her many contributions to the wide array of activities at the high school, she is also a member of the National Honor Society, Thespian Honor Society, and the Spanish Honor Society.
When asked about what it has been like so far to serve as the Student Representative to the Dumont Board of Education, Emma shared that, "It's been a really cool and interesting experience to be at the meetings. In the beginning I was a little nervous, but everyone was so welcoming and it feels very rewarding to be able to speak on behalf of my peers at the high school. It is definitely not something that I take lightly and I am very grateful that I am able to be a part of it.” She hopes that from this experience she can learn more about how the meetings run, what is discussed at the meetings, and how it impacts students.
Emma added that she thinks a lot of students feel passionately about being included and acknowledged not only in the classroom, but also for what they do outside of the classroom (clubs, sports, activities). She believes students overall want their voices to be heard.
Emma looks forward to pursuing a degree in Marketing in the future.
